CMHA Calgary provides mental health services, education, and advocacy to support the mental wellness of all Calgarians. We offer a comprehensive range of programs from crisis intervention to long-term support services.

18+ for all direct service roles
6 months minimum, 4-8 hours per week
Mental health first aid and crisis intervention training, 20-30 hours
Required with vulnerable sector screening; organization covers cost
2 pieces of government photo ID, mental health disclosure form
Limited to education and fundraising events only
Application → interview → reference check → training → supervised practice
Selective process — thorough screening for client safety and volunteer wellbeing
Provide one-on-one support to individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges.
Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM (flexible scheduling)
Minimum 4 hours per week for 6 months
Lived experience with mental health challenges, completion of peer support training program, strong listening skills
Help deliver mental health awareness workshops in schools and community centers.
Weekdays and some evenings, 2-3 hour sessions
Minimum 8 hours per month
Background in mental health, education, or social work. Public speaking experience preferred.
Provide telephone crisis support to individuals in mental health distress.
24/7 coverage with various shift options (4-8 hour shifts)
Minimum 8 hours per month
Completion of crisis intervention training, excellent communication skills, emotional stability
Support various mental health programs with administrative and client support tasks.
Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Minimum 6 hours per week
Basic computer skills, empathy, reliability, respect for confidentiality
